I like the background. Its not distracting but not bland either. The only thing I would say needs some works is details in the face. You should try working on making faces symmetrical, most noticeably in the eyes. And if you don't want to make it symmetrical, don't be afraid to go crazy with some asymmetry. just make sure you commit to the idea or style you're working with
